Post Power Steering cooler delete
Been debating about pulling my cooler out. I know they are notorious as they get older for spewing their guts into the power steering system. I was going to replace it but no one makes a new one. Has anyone done it and if so have you had any issues overheating your pump?

As best I can remember, I'm not running any kind of PS cooler. I run the fluid level just a little low, and haven't had any issues with cavitation/overheating, even with some 'spirited' driving. I'd run one if I was going to put the car on the track, though. (Road course, not the drag strip)

I should mention I run an underdrive crank pulley, which slows down the PS pump.

The car will probably never see track time, and I have a high end pump with supposed "superior cooling" capabilities. It strikes me as a possible damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of deal.

Nick, I know this is a very old post, but I just noticed it. I replaced my power steering cooler a few years ago with a heat sink type cooler. Pretty easy to do. I can't say I see a big difference seeing as I don't actually remember driving my car. If I remember correctly I put in an 18" Derale heat sink cooler. It's mounted right behind the front air dam on the k-member. Replacing the stock piece is as simple as getting the upper radiator hose for the non-ram air cars.

I believe this is the one I have:
