On mine all you need to do is insert an allen wrench or something into a hole in a metal ring around one end of the shocks, and turn the ring one way or the other to adjust firm/soft. Now I don't recall if firm or soft is counterclockwise, but I do have the instructions sitting around here somewhere...

Post Re: GTA Resto-Mod
Got a little but more done today, ended up giving my rockers and pushrods to the old man for his Trans am for some repair work, so while the valve covers were off figured I would sand some of the blemishes and paint them. Most of the engine is going to be this metallic stainless steel color so I wanted to see how it looked. I didn't go nuts sanding off the casting marks since I really don't care all that much, but made it look a lot better then it was. Also painted the front panel for the engine compartment. No more red base coat with no clear, it is all going to be old school muscle car matte black under the hood. I think it will really show off the stainless parts well and will make for easy touch ups in the future.

Nope, been working on 2 other cars so haven't touched it in awhile. The Supra should be gone in a few days and then I can get back to tinkering. Still need the K-Member and A-Arms before I can go much further. Hoping to have the drivetrain in by spring, but we'll see.

For 3rd gens with an LSX swap these parts retailed for around $950, I caught one of their rare sales and got it for $699.00 plus had a $250.00 credit with them from a past issue. So I was out the door for around $450.00. They don't go on sale often but when they do you can get some deals. I think 4th Gen stuff is a little cheaper

My main concern is header clearance. I want to go to 2" stepped 2 1/8" to 4". Plus I wouldn't mind loosing some weight off the nose. The lsx block is crazy heavy, 225# bare. Unless I get someone to buy my block and crank I'll be staying with it. That's why I was asking. And you did get a great deal!!

So most current update. Found a bunch of metal in the oil filter of the old mans 2002 and it is knocking a little bit so he is going to likely take the LQ4 for his car and I'll tear down the LS1 he has and see if it can be fixed. I'm sure the guts are OK but worried the block may be smoked on it since you can't bore them. Will know more if/when we get it out of his car. If we do switch that will work, another 100 pounds off the car will make me happy :). If my math is right will be flirting with around 3100 pounds now....light makes me happy!

I don't think the bores are gonna be a problem. If its knocking its hopefully just a rod bearing and not one of the mains. Every block I have seen come through the shop with spun mains the block is junk. If its just a rod, you can just hone the bores and check the housing bores, clean it and start throwing parts back in it.

Made some progress today. Got all the steering linkage out, front brakes, struts, spindles, springs and A-Arms. Taking the springs out is still one of the most nerve racking things I have ever done on a car. I ended up chaining them to the A-Arm just to make sure they didn't go flying (they tried BTW). Turns out even with the control arm unhooked you can't get them low enough to pull the spring so I had to pry it out, which was even more fun. But anyway, it's all off now. I'll yank the steering box and K-member tomorrow and start prepping for paint. You know how I LOVE to paint.

Didn't get a whole lot done today, got sidetracked by other stuff. Old K-member is out and I cleaned up some of the parts I have to re-use. Sand blasted the old backing plates and will get them painted tomorrow.

Knocked out a bunch more the past couple days. Subframe is finished, most of the parts I am re-using are either painted or in the process of being painted. Laid out all the new parts to go on (I am missing a washer dammit!). Now I just wait for the subframe paint to harden and then I can start putting it together again.

Finished backing plates and 1 spindle

Done with the rest of the painting. Trial fit the K-member but it will need some more adjustment to get it straight as I put more parts on.

Bring your checkbook, I am approaching 300 hours of labor on just the chassis so far :coffee

Although I could probably easily cut that in half if I had to

Starting to come together. I've been sick so I haven't been doing much at a time but the steering box, steering, coil overs and spindles are all back on.

Haven't heard anything because I haven't worked on it, no time. Once the Supra is back on the road we are pulling the engine in my fathers 2002 and replacing it, then I will start the mock up process with the engine and trans so I can fut the floor and put the interior back in.
