Post Calling eskimo
I have a few questions for you, you are the only one I know who has the corvette brakes on the trans am, I have recently got my hands on a set of grand sport calipers and would like to know what else I'm gonna need, and will my 17" wheels clear these monsters, I have all 4 corners too. I have only the calipers, no rotors and brakets.
Will these bolt on to my factory mounts ( hoping but doubtful) and will the corvette rotors fit my hubs ?

Check with Steve K (PSU98) he is selling a C5 kit and is willing to part it, might work for you

Yeah I seen that but wasn't sure if that was for the corvette or for the TA, I already have the calipers just need to know what else I will need.

Actually, my calipers are the Brembo 4-pots from a 2004-2007 CTS-V, which, along with the steel rotors from a C6 Z06 (the 14" ones part #19121787), bolt right up. The brake lines just need to be made a little longer and are available as a stocking part from a guy who's been selling conversion parts "Flynbye Performance LLC"

This combination would be hard-pressed to clear a 17" wheel - it would have to be a very particular design that doesn't have a reduced diameter behind the spokes, and spoke clearance itself could be a PITA. Most 18's clear though so long as the offset is right around 40mm. (Most f-body wheels in a 9.5" width are 56) - I used bolt-on 20mm spacers on the aftermarket wheels I had that were sized for a C5.

Anyway, for your GS/Z06 calipers, if you're dead-set on keeping 17's, the only way I could envision it working would be this - You'd run a 13" rotor max, and would have to make a very custom bracket to position the caliper properly over that rotor. I don't know if there's clearance around the knuckle to allow that, since the GS/Z06 calipers are meant to work with a 14" brake rotor and have longer mounting 'legs'

For the rear:
I'm betting you're running a 9" axle with pressed in bearings that don't require c-clips, but there's no way in HELL I'd suggest running a c-clip axle with fixed calipers. the axle moves in and out as you drive, and that will just push the pistons back into the caliper and cause you to have no brakes when you step on them. Running a 9" rear, you would be OK with the pad knockback issue.

BUT.. the f-body brake bias is all wrong and has way too much bias to the rear anyway. Just putting Hawk HPS pads on the rear stock setup is a good match with my big Brembo fronts. So, plan on a proportioning valve if you go this route.

Since we're on the topic, I'm reading that 5th Gen Camaro Brembo's are a good fit as well - the Camaro's 14" rotor center bore needs to be opened up to 70.6mm to clear, but it bolts right up apparently.

Thank you, I'm not dead set on the wheels. Atually I hate these wheels, and I got these calipers for almost nothing and was hoping to be able to put them on, the front caliper is a 6 piston and is freaking huge so I am not sure what I will do now, by the sounds of it, this will be a large chunk of change to put them on. So it will have to wait till I have the rest of the stuff I'm doing done.
