Nice wheels! Those are CCW's correct? Did you get them new or used? They look new if they were used. What size are the rims? I see a lot of guys going the 19/20 or 20/20 route. Love the look. Now keep them clean. ;)

Yes CCW's ... got them new and they are 18x10 and 18x11.5

I was looking for 18x10 and 19x11.5 but couldn't pass up the deal on these. I'm just limited on the rear tire options for now.

I almost did the 315/30's but read too many people having Active handling issues not keeping at least a .5" diameter difference from front to back. I needed to stick with 35 side walls to keep the active handling happy.

If I find people running the Nitto 555r in wet weather with no major issues I might try a set of them.

Let me tell you... I pulled them out of the box and spent two nights polishing them.
They are perfect for a black car... will require lot's of polishing to keep them like new.

They're a factory shaved-tread depth tire with half the water channels as a 555. define "no issues".

Some would define being able to go up the road at 15mph as "no issues", whereas other think being able to hit 1" of standing water without hydroplaning is what defines "no issues"..

That said, I think slowing down in the rain and watching out for standing water will be fine. But with the softer sidewalls (on only half the car), you've converted an excellent handling car into more of a straight liner. Noticeable? Maybe, maybe not.

I have the 305/35/18 nitto 555r and love them for dry weather. I don't drive it in the rain so I can't comment on that

Tom, you probably already know this but I would keep just about anything away from those wheels except for P21S gel wheel cleaner. Everything else I have ever had near polished aluminum left spotting that I had to buff out. Also I know we talked about keeping them protected with some Zaino AIO or another quality sealant. Polished aluminum is a PITA.

I run the 555 dr 315/35/17 and I have no complaints in the rain. I don't know the diff between the r and the dr but I was really surprised how good the tires were in the rain.

555R is a drag radial, it is going to hurt your handling. You could do the 555RII but they are REALLY stiff and ride like crap. I think this is the prime opportunity for someone to get a set of NT-05's or a set of Invo's

I looked at the invo but the widest I could get were 295's with 35 side wall.
The 295's work well I put some mileson the this weekend.

Lol, i wonder if you would even notice the difference between a 295 and a 315 in the real world. I seem to recall there being a reason why 315's aren't available as readily in 18's as 17's but damned if I can recall why. To my knowledge Nitto does not make any 305/315 series 18's in street trim, they all stop at 295. But I'd bet a set of NT-05's at 295MM will romp most other tires traction wise at 315MM

Post Re: The Vettes new look
The 295's I have on the car now look good and have a nice tread but no noticeable traction difference in first gear. I have not ran through 2nd and 3rd to see if they hold at the top end of those gears better than the 275's I had. At this point I'm happy with the 295's and will just keep an eye out for something wider to come along for future. I'm very happy with the deep dish look no matter what at this point.

She drove it Sunday night and wouldn't get into it much... She said she is afraid to. Her only comment was " I thought bigger tires would help with the traction?!"
